A Columbus, Georgia native, Sonny Cohen was a ranked Georgia junior player and played junior tennis tournaments at Bitsy Grant Tennis Center. He played high school tennis and has been an active participant in ALTA and USTA leagues since moving to Atlanta 30 years ago. He is also an avid platform tennis enthusiast and is a member of the Peachtree Paddle organization. Sonny’s wife, Kirstie, and son, Michael, participate in UTA drills and coaching at Bitsy Grant.
Sonny is a graduate of Tulane University and Georgetown University Law School. He was a real estate and corporate lawyer in private law practice and was most recently General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer of Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Inc. for 12 years. He is now Principal of SC Advisory Services. Sonny and his wife Kirstie live in Buckhead with their teenage sons Taylor and Michael.
Bo Crum singlehandedly founded the Tifton High School tennis team in the spring of his junior year. His rocket serve was devastating on the slick concrete courts that featured holes both in the net and the chicken-wire fence. Then tennis became a rarity during his time studying architecture at Georgia Tech and at Columbia, sailing a ship around as a LtJG, and then practicing architecture for several decades in Atlanta as a Senior Principal at Thompson, Ventulett and Stainback. Now retired, he aims to play tennis almost every day - trying desperately to make up for all those years away from the courts.
Bo's long-time address is Brighton Road in the Brookwood Hills neighborhood. His wife Barbara still practices architecture as a Senior Principal at Perkins+Will. He has two daughters, Laura in Washington, D. C. and Diana in New York.

Prior to her 13 years at the Home Depot, Kristin was a General Manager of Finance for Delta Air Lines supporting the information technology team. She also spent five years in the banking industry at Chase Manhattan in Jacksonville, FL.
Kristin currently plays on Bitsy ALTA and USTA ladies tennis teams. She also has played on ALTA teams at the Carl Sanders YMCA and DeKalb Tennis Center. She recently retired from corporate life and now tries to play tennis 4-5 times a week. She’s also very active in the Atlanta Humane Society, one of the city’s oldest charitable organizations, and has served on their Board for the past 4 years in multiple capacities, including on the strategy, finance, nominating and executive committees.
Jenny Nagel grew up in the Chicago area where she graduated from Lake Forest High School and played tennis out of the local park district. She has been a Georgia resident for two decades. Her husband, Vern, is Chairman, CEO & President of Acuity Brands. Jenny enjoys playing tennis and paddle out of Bitsy Grant and Cherokee Town & Tennis Club.
A Special "Thank You" to Fredericka Goldenberg and Theo Rudnak!
We bid a fond farewell and a huge "Thank you!" to departing board members Fredericka "Freddy" Goldenberg and Theo Rudnak. Some highlights from their tenure:
Freddy Goldenberg (far left) served on the FBGT board from 2015 to 2017. She is a competitive tennis player and paddle player. She served as a board liaison with Peachtree Paddle, and played a vital role in the successful funding and construction of the new paddle courts and the warming hut. Her support and efforts were also key to bringing courtside shade to Bitsy. We are very thankful for her work, and will deeply miss her participation on the board!
Theo Rudnak (second from right) has served two terms on the board (2012-17). A gifted designer and illustrator, he designed many of the Friends' invitations and posters over the past few years, from the Bitsy 60th anniversary celebration logo to the annual holiday party invitations. Recently, he helped with conceptual design for the shade decks and other building projects. While his attendance at the meeting will be missed, we know we can find him on the courts!
