Rainy weather couldn’t stop the 12th Annual Peachtree Invitational, a national paddle tennis tournament held January 20-22 at several sites in Atlanta, and hosted this year at Bitsy Grant Tennis Center.
Highlights from this year’s tournament included 132 top players from 14 states, 40 volunteers, a well-attended Player Party hosted by Bill & Jennifer Hayes, and lots of great tennis. The men’s and women’s winners and finalists are pictured below.
Long popular in the Midwest and Northeast, paddle tennis has become more and more popular in Atlanta as players discover the game. Founded in 2005 by Peter Lauer, the Peachtree Paddle League advocates for the sport in the Atlanta area, and in January, debuted the first Atlanta-based men’s and women’s team paddle leagues. The Peachtree Paddle League currently boasts an active membership of 146.
